Luís Filipe Reis Thomaz
Luís Filipe Reis Thomaz has been the Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Católica University in Lisbon since 2002, where he currently teaches M.A. courses in Malay, Sanskrit, Indian History and Eastern Christianity.
An accomplished linguist, he has taught at several universities in Portugal and Timor over the course of a long and distinguished academic career. He is particularly interested in the history and culture of India and Southeast Asia, the history and ethnography of Timor, Sanskrit, Malay and the history of Eastern Christianity.
He has supervised 11 Ph.D. and 23 M.A. theses and has authored innumerable books and studies covering a wide range of historiographic areas.
