Anthony Disney
Anthony Disney is an honorary research associate at the Department of History at La Trobe University (Australia), where he taught between 1970-1999. He holds an M.A. from Oxford University and a Ph.D. from Harvard University and specialises in the history of Portugal and the Portuguese empire before 1807. He is particularly interested in the Portuguese maritime empire in Asia during the late 16th and early 17th century and has authored several books and articles on this subject. His latest work is a history of Portugal and the Portuguese empire from its beginnings to 1807, to be published shortly by Cambridge University Press.
