Ernestine Carreira
Ernestine Carreira holds a Ph.D. from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. She has taught at the University of Provence since 1987, where she is also currently the director of the Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies. She is a member of CEMAF, a research centre dedicated to African Studies at the University of Provence (associated with the CNRS and Sorbonne University).
She is especially interested in naval technology, economic history and the interaction between the Portuguese and French empires in India, Africa and South America and has published several articles in these areas.
